The Wycheproof Court House Opened 24-9-1890.The Law Department Closed the Court House during the 1980s. The building became the home of the Wycheproof Craft Group and then the Wycheproof And District Historical Society. Financial support from Heritage Victoria enabled interior renovations to be completed in 2007.

This is the only known photo of the Opening of the Wycheproof Court House. It is fragile and precious.

Wycheproof Historical Society in November 2010 co- ordinated and hosted the re- opening of the refurbished Wycheproof Station to great acclaim. The re-opening of the railway station provided a focus on the railway heritage of Wycheproof bringing former railway workers and was supported by Steam Rail Victoria which re-scheduled a train to visit a Wycheproof on the day.

This plaque recognises the Wycheproof servicemen from State School No1757 who served in the 1914-1919 War. The actual large Honour Roll hangs in the old historic Wycheproof State School building.

This Honour Roll contributes to and is part of the nation's collection of War Records; it is unique,believed to be the only one of its kind.

The first Presbyterian gathering was held in Wycheproof in 1876, this led to the organization of a congregation and the building of a church. The first church was in Charles Street on the north side of the Mount. It served the congregation for twenty years. The new church in Mount Street opened 06-09-1896 and after 115 years the doors closed for worship in 2011.

A building of spiritual and social significance to the Presbyterian congregation and wider community of Wycheproof and District for 115 years.

Small format sepia print taken between 1912-1937of the Wycheproof Presbyterian Church Complex. Designed on early English lines, the church dated 1896 was built of red-brick with buttresses and decorated cream-brick trimmings. The arched windows are glazed in diamond shaped leadlight. The high pitched roof is of galvanized corrugated iron. The Sunday School Hall 1912, of timber construction with feature trim of arched windows and doors and a galvanized corrugated iron roof. The Manse 1909, of timber construction with galvanized corrugated iron roof and fret-work on the space above the verandah. Iron lace decorates the wooden verandah posts. Fencing: Post and Rail.

The Towaninnie Methodist Church no longer exists but on the Towaninnie plains a location sign marks it. In common with many church communities the faithful who met here were very patriotic and their young men were strongly supported when they volunteeered during the Great War of 1914 -'18. This Honour Board once hung on the Methodist Church wall but is now at the Pioneer Settlement,Swan Hill.

The actual Honour Board is believed to be the only one of its type with this listing. This photo of it contributes to and is part of a Local, State and National collection of War memorabilia that honours our servicemen and women.

This book, in short, is our tribute to the Pioneers of the Wycheproof Shire. Their struggle to establish communities against the backdrop of an immense landscape reflects the confidence and hopes placed in the Mallee but times were not always prosperous.

The many,many changes in our communities in Mallee life over the past years to 1994 have been drawn together in a competent manner by historian Jennifer McLennan.This book at State level is socially, historically and architectually important.

Time,Tide and the Tyrrell has 314 pages; first published in 1994. Its golden jacket pictures 3 wheat lumpers unloading a wagon load of wheat. In the top right hand corner is a sketch of Lake Tyrrell.

By 1881 Bunguluke was a small settlement as recorded, December 5, in the Charlton "Mercury". It reports that in that year Draper's Store, Hotel and Post Office and residence at Bunguluke North was totally destroyed by fire. For years now there has been little sign of community life with houses few and far between and acreages have gone into larger holdings. The map references land blocks and owners for that era.

This important map shows the local land ownership and local features that existed in 1923.

Mr Dempsey and family were the first selectors to arrive at Mt Wycheproof 1872 or early 1873. One Dempsey Land Application is dated 15-3-1873.

Factual documents obtained from a Melbourne archive show settler,John Dempsey,securing land at Wycheproof. Several official Lands Department correspondence provides evidence of Dempsey's early land acquisition at the beginning of the town's farming history and settlement from 1872 - 1882.

Friday, September 28, 1883 was a memorable date for Wycheproof as on that day was the long-awaited official opening of the railway. It was recorded that no less than 23 parishes would act as feeder to the rail line. The Railway Station closed in December 1990 but the building was renovated in 2010 with plans for a community focus and cultural events.

The arrival of rail opened up the Mallee. Local farmers began sending wheat, sheep and wool by rail. Improvements to transport stock was ongoing and the eventual rail extension north of the town, resulted in a well patronised passenger service for years. Railway families and workers added to the culture of the town.

First recorded Waterboard Rate book for Wycheproof which was then under the St.Arnaud Shire. Early in 1893 the burning question in the north-central area was the possibility of severance from the St.Arnaud Shire On April 27,1894 the Shire of Wycheproof was constituted.

Earliest Rate records for early Wycheproof residents 1893 - 1908 and property owners. Nine councillors elected to represent the new Shire of Wycheproof.

This Law Book is dated 23.5.1888 - 22.8.1888 and pre-dates the establishment of the Wycheproof Court House that was opened on September 24,1890.

This early Wycheproof Law register records the types of charges brought against the accused in 1888 such as failure to immunize child, send child to school, pay rates,goods and maintenance,to control pests and vermin, being drunk and disorderly in a public place. Names of Defendants are registered and also the magistrate's findings.

The 28-09-1883 was a memorable date for Wycheproof for on that day the long-awaited official opening of the railway took place. It has been serving the district since then. In this booklet individual rail workers are acknowledged in a listing.

The Demon's Football Club remains the town's heartbeat and Premiership medals are monumental trophies celebrated by both young and old generations. Five Premiership medallions won by an individual is a mighty achievement.
