Photograph, George Couvalias

Historical information

The man in the photograph is George Couvalias, who arrived in Australia from the Ithacan village of Lefki in 1926. For many years, together with his brothers Theofilo and Peter (Pano), they ran the Palace Fruit Shop in Clarendon Street, South Melbourne.
