          The Slouch Hat became standard issue headdress in 1903 and its brim position was mostly standardised. The slouch hat became a famous symbol of the Australian fighting man during World War One and continued to be worn throughout World War Two.           Khaki slouch hat, has pleated hat band, brim upturned with badge on upturned brim. Crown of hat pinched inwards. Leather crown liner and leather chin strap with adjustable clip.

          Uniform, AWAS Hat

          This Australian Womens Army Services (AWAS) Hat belonged to Marion (Tib) Owler. Established in August 1941, the AWAS in consisted of 6000 women by January 1942. Some 20,000 were in service by the end of that same year. They worked in roles including administration, driving, catering, signals and intelligence, and were paid around two-thirds of their male counterparts.

          The item represents Australian women’s army uniform headdress from WW 2. The hat’s stylish design was an important aspect of the recruiting campaign for the women’s services of 1942.

          Fur felt brimmed hat. Band holds Rising Sun badge centre front, and a red & blue unit colour patch is also attached to the band on the side.

          The tradition of wearing a red poppy on Remembrance day is to commemorate the end of the WW1. The sale of poppies made of cloth, or a lapel pin, is a means of fund -raising for the RSL.

          Framed collection of 18 Poppy Day badges mounted on green felt.

          Each badge depicts a red poppy in a different style. The badges date from 1946. Some have the words -Poppy Day appeal - written on them.

          The sale of ANZAC DAY pins is a fund raising event held around the anniversary of ANZAC DAY. The design of the fund-raising badges is based on the service badge worn by veterans of the Gallipoli landings.

          Seven Anzac Day pins attached to a wooden stand. The pins each have a different design. Each have a single pin attached to the back of the badge.Each design incorporates a large letter A.

          The words Anzac Day or Anzac Appeal appear on each of the badges.
