Booklet has a leather cover of dark blue. Inside the front and back covers are two mounted pages with printed caligraphy surrounded by a gold border, and a purple stamp on the second page. This is a commemorative booklet given to Lady Sargood after the death of Sir Frederick Sargood by the Shire of Marong.

Belonged to Mrs Emma Winifred Hornabrook [nee Sargood]. Winnie Sargood was one of the middle children of the large Sargood family, and grew up at Rippon Lea.
[Sterling silver] cylindrical lidded transparent glass crystal hair tidy. RL 0791.1: Cylindrical container has a flat circular base. The glass is decorated with cut and faceted design comprised of two diagonal parallel lines forming diamonds in which are octagonal shapes. RL 0791.2: Silver convex lid with a circular hole in the centre. The surface is smooth except for engraved lettering in calligraphic style around central opening.

This fan belonged to Julia Charlotte Sargood (Charlie), youngest daughter of Sir Frederick Sargood and only child of Lady Julia Sargood.
Black carved wood fan with black net. Three flowers with leaves are embroidered in black thread and small black sequins. Carving on black wooden frame is a floral design. One black metal ring joins the fan at its base.

This is a commemorative booklet given to Lady Sargood after the death of Sir Frederick Sargood.
Booklet has a leather cover of dark blue with an embossed gold title on the centre front under an embossed gold harp. Inside the front and back covers are two mounted pages of signatures of members of the Rippon Lea Musical Society. There is a gold tooled decorative border around all edges of the signed paper. The first paragraph, before the signatures begin is addressed to Lady Sargood.

James Dearing was the head gardener for Benjamin Nathan, who owned Rippon Lea between 1909-1935. Dearing is believed to have worked for the Nathan Family at their previous home in High St., Armadale. He is understood to have left the employment of the Nathan's in about 1914-1915.
Decorative prize certificate awarded to Mr James Dearing, head gardener to Benjamin Nathan, by the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria on the 11th February 1909, for "1 new or rare Plant". Certificate is made of white paper mounted on to cardboard. Decoration and text are very similar to RL 0448- the certificate is a cream coloured cardboard with printed text and decoration in green ink. The decorations consist of: a shield with a lion and a horse on either side, at the top of the certificate; a sheild with a kangaroo and an emu on either side, with advance Australia below, on the bottom of the certificate. On either side of this are two circles, the right circle consists of flowers, the left circle consists of fruit. Surrounding all this are various flowers and foliage filling up the space inside the border decoration.

Presented to the Major The Honorable F. T. Sargood together with the V.R.A. Challenge Cup on 8 December 1876. The cup was competed for by all the volunteer corps in Victoria. The following extract is from The Argus (Melb), Sat 9 Dec 1876, page 9 https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5912315 The second quarterly official inspection of the St Kilda Battery was held last night by Colonel Anderson. The gun drill was held in the orderly-room, and afterwards the corps was put through field movements in the drill around. At the termination of the inspection Colonel Anderson expressed his satisfaction at the manner in which the drill had been performed. Colonel Anderson then presented Major Sargood with the Victorian Rifle Association Challenge Cap, which had been won by the St. Kilda Battery three times. The cup has been competed for the last 12 years, and in that time the cost of the ammunition used in the contest and markers' fees amounted to about £3.000. The value of the cup is 20 guineas. An address to Major Sargood was then read by Captain Hearn. On receiving the cup Major Sargood said that he was afraid from the state of his health he would either have to retire from command of the battery, or obtain a long leave of absence. He said that six years ago he bad been presented with a sword which he wore that evening, and he was glad to see that there was no diminution of the goodwill then expressed towards him.

This photograph informs the viewer of the grand ballroom at Rippon Lea homestead in Elsternwick in the late 1800s. One of 33 rooms in this mansion, built for Fredrick Sargood in 1868, the ballroom stood where the swimming pool is currently located. Louisa Jones’ (nee Nathan) love of the 1930s Hollywood style prompted her to demolish the old ballroom and replace it with the swimming pool. She converted Sargood’s billiard room into a ballroom during the late 1930s.
