Significance
The ship the wood gavel is made from had the distinction of being "the longest Serving Screw Steamer in the World" She was built by Barclay & Curle in Galsgow in 1854 and was scrapped in Australia at Coode Island Footscray in 1957. The same wood was used to make the Chairman's chair in Carlton's Board room.
