This stencil was used as a ship identifier stamp for the transportation of wool bales. Plassy was a troopship in the Boer and then the Indian Garrison rotation run. During WWI the Plassy was converted into a Grand Fleet hospital ship serving in European waters. All wool bales stamped with PLASSY would be transported on the Plassy ship.
