Historical information
Ioannis Vlassopoulos (Kioukiouris)is the soldier in the photograph. He was born in Ithaca in1889 and arrived in Australia in 1908. He returned to Greece in 1912 to fight in the Balkan Wars. Ioannis was one of the founding members of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society. He died in Melbourne in 1979, aged 90.
