Notice of the unveiling of the Edward O'Donnell Memorial Fountain on 18 August 1935 at Edward O'Donnell Gardens. Invitation to the unveiling of Edward O'Donnell fountain in the O'Donnell Gardens, St Kilda, at 3pm on 18 August 1935. Edward O'Donnell was a St Kilda Councillor and businessman who was elected to the St Kilda Council in 1888 and served continuously for 44 years. During that time he was mayor on six separate occasions, including the war years. Following his death in 1933, a fountain was commissioned to perpetuate his memory in the centre of the gardens that had, by then, already started to be known by his name. The fountain was designed and built at a cost of £750 by Modern Art Co. Pty. Ltd. Of the art deco style, it is 4.5 metres high and 5 metres in diameter. The fountain’s plaque says his ‘record of municipal and community service will always be an example of true manhood and ideal citizenship’

Notice of the unveiling of the Catani Memorial Clock Tower on the Esplanade, St Kilda, on 22 August 1932. The clock tower commemorates Carlo Catani (1852 - 1918), who designed the landscaping of the gardens at the beach end of Fitzroy Street, now the Catani Gardens, and was responsible for works along the foreshore.

A Murray Views greeting card for Christmas and New Year. The photograph, 'Murray Views No. 3 St Kilda', appears to be of the Lower Esplanade, St Kilda, in the 1940s. Murray Views was established in 1929 by photographer Fred Murray in Gympie, Queensland, initially to supply postcards of local views. The company soon expanded its reach through Queensland and interstate.

Ticket to picnic at Wattle Park on 14 December 1938, organised by the St Kilda Unemployed Organisation with the support of the St Kilda City Council, The Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramway Board, Archie Michaelis MLA, and 'other generous supporters'. The ticket is also a tram ticket to Wattle Park and back and appears to have been perforated to make detachable vouchers for dinner, ice-cream, drinks, lollies, toys and tea.

Ticket to picnic at Park Orchards on 21 December 1936, organised by the St Kilda Unemployed Organisation with the support of the St Kilda City Council, Mayor (Cr Alfred Levy), Archie Michaelis MLA, and 'other well-known gentlemen'. The ticket appears to have been perforated to allow vouchers, printed on the back (for bus, dinner, toys, stockings, ice cream and tea) to be separated and used. Park Orchards is a residential suburb 23km north east of Melbourne that was created in 1925 on land used for orchards when timber merchants Australis Sharp and John Taylor launched the Park Orchards Country Club estate. Buyers were not attracted to the estate, and for many years all that existed were a clubhouse and various sporting facilities. It gained popularity when demand for housing surged in the 1950s.

Concert program of entertainment as aprt of fundraising for the Jacka Appeal, held on 17 February 1932 at St Kilda Town Hall. The headline performer was Gladys Moncreiff, 'Australia's Queen of Song'. Albert Jacka, a St Kilda Councillor, collapsed on 14 December 1931 after a council meeting and was admitted to Caulfield Military Hospital. He died on 17 January 1932 at the age of 39. He is most well-known for his military service in WWI, having received the Victoria Cross medal for his actions during the Gallipoli campaign and two more decorations for his bravery on the Western Front. He received a hero's welcome on his return to Melbourne in January 1920 and an estimated 50,000 people turned up to watch his funeral procession to St Kilda Cemetery, where he was buried with full military honours. The Albert Jacka Fund had two objectives: the erection of a simple, suitable and inexpensive memorial stone over the grave of the dead hero; the placing of the residue of the fund in the hands of trustees for the benefit of his widow and child.

The Gregory Hall was built on the grounds of All Saints Uniting Church, Chapel Street, East St Kilda in 1910-11. It was used for assemblies and classes at the All Saints' Grammar School which, after faltering fortunes, closed in1937. It was then leased to Zercho's Business College, founded in 1911 by Frederick William Zercho (the brother of Charles Henry Zercho, who was headmaster of the All Saints Grammar School in 1913-1919). The certificate, dated 16 August 1938, is a birthday greeting addressed to F. W. Zercho that also acknowledges one year since the establishment of the Gregory Hall branch of the college. It is signed by the headmistress, staff and students. Zercho's Business College became the largest business college in Australia. In 1968 it was sold to Stott's Business College.

Two sheets of white paper, handwritten and decorated with ink of multiple colours and each affixed to a board. The boards are covered with blue-dyed paper, decorated with gold ink and were once joined together to form an outer cover for the pages. One sheet carries on one side a message to FW Zercho Esq that has been written in decorative calligraphy, and signatures. The second sheet carries decorative artwork and a list of signatures on each side as well as a sepia photograph.

Joseph Levi (25 December 1856 - 25 October 1944) was, among his many civic and philanthropic activities, a St Kilda Councillor from 1922 to 1931, including a term as Mayor in 1924-25.

Notice of a meeting of citizens, convened by the Mayor of St Kilda, to raise funds for the widow and child of the late Albert Jacka, former St Kilda Councillor (from 1929) and Mayor (1930). Dinner hosted by the Mayor of St Kilda, Councillor Burnett Gray J.P., to meet Colonel the Honorable Harold Cohen C.M.G. D.S.D. M.L.C., held at St Kilda Town Hall on 26 March 1934. Colonel (later Brigadier) Cohen was a Member of the Legislative Council from 1 June 1929 until 1 February 1935, representing the Melbourne South province. He sat in the Legislative Assembly as Member for Caulfield from 1 March 1935 until 1 April 1943.

Invitation to services commemorating the 80th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of Christ Church, at 14 Acland Street St Kilda, on 25 November 1934. Christ Church was constructed in 1854-57 and designed in Decorated Gothic style by Albert Purchase & Charles Swyer. It was enlarged in 1874 and 1881 to the designs of Sydney W Smith. It is one of four main buildings constructed on land granted to the Church of England in 1855 and named Church Square. The other buildings are the bishop's residence, vicarage and parish hall. Heritage Victoria describes it as a 'rare and significant square in the history of town planning in Victoria which demonstrates the importance of the church to the community'. It is built from rarely used undressed random coursed sandstone from Point King Sorrento.

Entree card to the official opening of the City of St Kilda's Children's Welfare Centre, at 171 Chapel Street, on 26 February 1938. The building was replaced in 1971 with a new Children's Centre and Maternal & Child Health Centre, which was later demolished and replaced in 2013 with the Bubup Nairm Children's Centre. Bubup means 'children' in local Boon Wurrung language, and Nairm is Port Phillip Bay: i.e. “ Children of Port Philip Bay”.

The Maison de Luxe Dance Palais was on the north corner of Glenhuntly Road and Broadway in Elwood and operated as a venue for dances and private parties from the late 1920s until the mid 1950s (except when occupied by the Army in 1942-1945).

Invitation card for the private opening of the Wattle Path Palais & Cafe, on the Esplanade, St Kilda, on 30 October 1923. The event was written up in The Argus newspaper the next day as follows: WATTLE PATH PALAIS OPENED. Five thousand persons were present at the "private opening" last night of the Wattle Path Palais and Cafe, St Kilda esplanade. The mayor of St Kilda (Councillor Allan) welcomed the guests on behalf of the management. The floor, 190ft. x 90ft, is claimed to be the largest specially constructed for dancing in Australia. There was much to admire in the colour tones, which blended brown, blue, and gold harmoniously, while soft lighting effects came from old gold georgette and crepe-de-chene lamp shades. A good band was provided. Sixty-five loges are available for parties of dancers. A feature of the building is the open-air pagoda, in which free band concerts are to be given on Sundays.
