Barham House, now Eildon, built by Edward Green c 1853. Three bay, two storey Regency style house, with single storey portico. This is the original core of the current building Eildon which now has two storey bays at each end of this elevation added c1873. Of note is five children in the foreground.

Notice in preparation for ceremony for the Governor-General to present war service certificates to nurses, sailors and soldiers who lived in St Kilda when they signed up for service. A form was provided with the notice, possibly seeking information about which recipients of the certificates will be attending.

Photocopy of extract of the winning design for the St Kilda War Memorial. The architect was G H Alsop who, at 21 years of age and with Assisting Architect JC Aisbell, won a competition to design the memorial to St Kilda's fallen servicemen and women. The memorial was unveiled in 1925.

The third Earl of Stradbroke was Governor of Victoria from 24 February 1921 to 7 April 1926. The ticket was to an event at St Kilda Pier to welcome him and his wife upon their arrival in Victoria. They and their three children had entered Australia at Fremantle on 17 February 1921.

Event on 23 March 1926 at St Kilda Town Hall to farewell the Countess of Stradbroke, Helena Violet Alice Fraser, the wife of the third Earl of Stradbroke, who the Governor of Victoria from 24 February 1921 to 7 April 1926.

Notice of a public meeting at St Kilda Town Hall on 12 November1928 about the financing of the Memorial Buildings. The year is not specified in the notice but it would have been 13 February 1929 because the Mayor is identified as Thos Unsworth, who served as Mayor in 1928-29. The Memorial Hall commemorates those who served in World War I, was officially opened on Armistice Day, 1924, and operated as a dance and social hall. In January 1927 the Health Department gave permission for it to operate as the Memorial Cinema. It continued as a cinema until 1957.

Event at the St Kilda Town Hall in recognition of the St Kilda Cricket Club First Eleven winning the VCA Premiership in four successive seasons - 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26, 1926-27. Details of the matches are set out on the back of the program. A smoke social was a predominantly Australian form of male only social event in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, until about the 1940s, where men would gather to smoke. Smoke socials were often coupled with a formal dinner, an annual general meeting or a musical revue and were run by football clubs, charitable organizations, civic organizations, trade unions, and governments.

Program of a reception for the Duchess of York by the National Council of Women of Victoria on 26 April 1927 at the St Kilda Town Hall. Music by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. In 1927, the Duke and Duchess of York, (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother) came to Australia to officiate the opening of the new Parliament House in Canberra on 9 May. They arrived in Sydney on 26 March and departed from Fremantle on 23 May. They were in Victoria on 21 - 29 April.

Routes and traffic arrangements for the visit to Victoria on 26 May - 7 June 1920 by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). The visit was to officially thank Australia for the support to Great Britain during World War I and to strengthen the links between Australia and the Empire. The booklet details the routes, escorts, and traffic arrangements, starting with the procession from St Kilda Pier to Federal Government House on his arrival on 26 May.

Program of visit to Victoria in 1920 by Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David, the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). The visit was to officially thank Australia for the support to Great Britain during World War I and to strengthen the links between Australia and the Empire. The program contains the general itinerary of the visit to Australia, from 26 May - 19 August, and the detailed itinerary of the visit to Victoria on 26 May - 7 June. It also lists the Prince's staff, members of the press who were accompanying him, and the tour party.

Program commemorating the church's 70 year history, and Armistice Day, in 1928. All Saints Anglican Church in East St Kilda is one of Melbourne's oldest Anglican churches. The foundation stone was laid on 8 November 1858 and the first service was held in the church on the 8 December 1861. The building which can seat up to 1400 people is said to be the largest Anglican parish church in the southern hemisphere.

Membership book for the Wattle Social Club. It provides for a payment record of subscriptions and contains a list of the names of the members of the Executive and Social Committee. It also sets out the Club motto Omnibus Placeto (make yourself agreeable to all) and the Club's object, which was 'Pleasant Sunday Evenings and Intellectual Social Advancement of All Members' and club rules. Club rooms were at the Memorial Hall and Alma Hall.

Event upon the appointment of Lt. Col. The Right Hon. Arthur Herbert Tennyson, the Lord Somers, KCMG DSO MC as Governor of Victoria. He served in the role from 28 June 1926 to 23 June 1931, and administered the Commonwealth as acting governor-general from 3 October 1930 to 22 January 1931.

The booklet was produced for the unveiling of the Captain Cook Statue on 7 December 1914 at the St. Kilda Foreshore. It contains details of Cook's life, the statue and the donor, Andrew Stenhouse, as well as of its unveiling. The statue was unveiled by the Governor of Victoria, Sir Arthur Stanley, watched on by Commonwealth and State dignitaries and hundreds of St Kilda residents.

The manuscript of James Cook, the Man, has been placed in the archives of the Greenwich Maritime Museum, London, the largest of its kind in the British Commonwealth, the Captain Cook Landing Place Historic Museum, Kurnell, Botany Bay, Australia, the Newport Historic Marine Museum, Rhode Island, U.S.A., Newport being the last resting place of Cook's "Endeavour".'

Pocket Gospel of St John, issued to 'Men of H.M. Forces' on active service in 1914-1916. Contains a message from Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts, VC, KG, KP, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCIE, VD, PC, FRSGS, at that time retired after his distinguished military career yet still active in public life, and less than three months before he died of pneumonia when visiting troops in France. Includes some hymns and music as well as the passages from the Gospel of St John.

Directions for the knitting of standard socks for men in active service during WWI. Issued by the Lady Mayoress's League, Melbourne, in September 1915. The Lady Mayoress's League, or Lady Mayoress's Patriotic League, was formed on 7th August 1914 by Lady Hennessy, Lady Mayoress of the City of Melbourne. The League was formed to supplement the official supplies issued to each soldier by providing 'comforts' such as socks and food packages, and by 1915 was the recognised agent in Victoria for the reception and despatch of all gifts other than those sent privately. In September 1916 it became part of the Australian Comforts Funds, an Australia-wide umbrella organisation formed from individual state-based organisations of this type.

Service personnel of the United Kingdom or Commonwealth who are mentioned in despatches (MiD) are not awarded a medal for their actions, but receive a certificate and wear an oak leaf device on the ribbon of the appropriate campaign medal. Lieutenant-Colonel R E (Richard Edmond) Courtney was the Commanding Officer of the 14th Battalion for the period August 1914-1915, including the Gallipoli Campaign. The certificate was signed by Winston Churchill as Secretary of State. It appears to be an official duplicate of the original.
