Staff of the Burnley Gardens regularly took extensive readings at the meteorological station and recorded comments.

Physical description

Red cardboard bound lined register. Handwritten entries for twice each day 9am and 3pm 1/1/1951 - 31/7/1959. The high percentage of days the recorded excluded Sundays, and latterly 3 days to whole weeks where readings were not taken. Header written as Burnley Gardens Victoria, with the header being changed to 'taken at Burnley Horticultural College' from June 1958. Book utilised in full. Handwritten entries atmospheric pressure, temperature, wind, cloud, rain, visibility and daily remarks. Different reporters shown by handwriting differences, and no monthly remarks made.
