During the 1940's and 1950's, all State Primary Schools gave students fresh milk during the 'summer' months. In the Hall's Gap/Stawell area hot cocoa was given to the students in 'winter' months.
The photo shows a group of nine primary school students drinking from mugs. Eight children are standing and one is squatting down. They are in a yard and there is a light coloured pail in the centre.
