Mayor Liana Thompson
Ronald (Bunna) WALSH was born in Port Melbourne in 1933. Starting his career as a waterside worker he went on to become an official of the Waterside Workers' Federation and President the the South Melbourne ALP. In 1979 he was elected the the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the member for Albert Park. Throughout his parliamentary career he held a number of portfolios and was a great supporter of all things related to his birthplace, Port Melbourne. His State Funeral was held on the 14 April 2022 at the Sandridge Event Centre, Port Melbourne Football Club.

Update and reprint of Pubs of Port Walk. Supported by CoPP. The original Pubs in Port Walk was No 7 with No 6 reserved for Bend on the River: Westgate Park. The Westgate Park walk was not produced so the updated versions the Pub walk in 2001 and 2012 became No 6 however with the introduction of a Beacon Cove to Webb Trail as a new Walk No 6 in 2016, this version of the Pub walk (2017) reverted to No 7.

The letter on the outside of the sheet is from Jim (?) to Les (Turner). It gives some of his childhood recollections of Port Melbourne Hotels These include the Shamrock which he understood that it was "... a weatherboard Building - very Badly Conducted and when it was burned down it was not rebuilt... I did know that there was a murder there."Inside is hand drawn map of Port Melbourne with the hotels marked in position as well as a Key down the left hand side. The accompanying typed sheet lists the 50 original hotels on the left hand side and the 20 remaining on the right.

The writer, F R TONKIN , has written a brief history of the Nott Street State School from its opening on 1st July 1874 to the end of March 1969. Due to falling enrolments the school closed in 1992 with the Port Phillip Specialist School relocating there in 1996.

The Civic Centenary Thanksgiving Service was held at Holy Trinity Church, Port Melbourne on Sunday 10th July 1960 at 7pm. It was attended by His Worship the Mayor, and the Mayoress, Cr. L.S. TURNER and Mrs TURNER. Councillors who attended included Town Clerk, Mr A.T. AANENSEN, the City Engineer Mr. G.S. WILLIAMS and the City Electrical Engineer Mr J.T. ANDERSON and their ladies. The address was given by the Rev Lawrence E. STYLES, Industrial Chaplain to the Archbishop of Melbourne.

The Passages exhibition looked back to Port Melbourne in the 1970s when the make-up of the Council changed and the Greek community became even more a part of life in Port. This CD covers the valuable contribution made by the members of the Greek community who came from Greece to make Port Melbourne their home.
CD-ROM containing information relating to the Passages Exhibition launched at Port Melbourne Town Hall, 28 Aug 2017. In 1963 work was being undertaken to create the central Plantation Strip that divides Bay Street. The layout of the strip can be seen although actual work has not begun. The photo possibly taken from Port Melbourne Town Hall tower. Note absence of traffic lights.

Brothers John Edward and Edward James CROCKFORD were wine and spirit merchants and publicans and, in 1861, E J CROCKFORD built the Fountain Inn (now the Cornerstone) at the junction of Bay Street & what is now known as Crockford Street.The ground floor dates from 1861 while the top floor was-re-modelled in 1888 to the design of John GRUT. Quinn's Council Club Hotel was built by Michael QUINN in 1874. It closed in 1923.

The group of buildings running down Bay Street from Liardet Street were know as the Market Buildings. On the corner was I & S BURNS No 1 Cash Grocer. Part of this site is currently occupied by Coles Port Melbourne supermarket.
