Terry Chumbley raised the issue of contamination of the Bayside site. His actions, particularly the correspondence included here, led to the EPA imposing a clean up notice on the site. The de-contamination work took several years and was reported to have cost $43 million. The discovery of site contamination indirectly led to the collapse of the S.C.D.C. proposal for the Bayside site
