In 1986 the Port Melbourne Council, faced by another amalgamation threat, produced anti amalgamation kits for it's citizens with bumper stickers, booklet, badges ets. Council had run a competition for a slogan with the winner being "Vintage Port worth preserving" Joan CURTIS the winner

Two white badges with red lettering donated by the last Town Clerk of City of Port Melbourne
.01 from 1993 following the Kennett election, this copy was made by the council - "Vintage Port worth preserving - no amalgamation".
