Historical information

These cheeky postcards were designed for Swallow & Ariell sales reps to distribute to country customers in the 1930s. They were presented to the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society by George Derham, a descendant of Thomas Swallow's partner and son-in-law, Frederick Derham, after PMHPS member David Thompson had given an historical presentation to a Derham family reunion in 2006.

Physical description

.01 - .12 A group of sales postcards used by Swallow & Ariell sales representatives, who left them with country customers.

.13 - the mounted label that was used to describe the postcards as used in a display for Borough's 150th in July 2010

.14 - Letter (addressed to David THOMPSON) from George DERHAM about the postcards (in envelope)
