Legacy celebrated its Centenary in 2023 by conducting a Torch Relay from Pozieres in France, to London, and around Australia, ending in Melbourne. This booklet belonged to Legatee David Kelly who donated it to the archive. Legatee Kelly is a Past President of Melbourne Legacy 2000, Past Chairman of Legacy Coordinating Council 2009/10. Legatee Kelly was the ML representative on the Board of Legacy Australia Inc in October 2019 when the initial decision was made to investigate the possibility of conducting a relay to commemorate Legacy’s centenary. Legatee Kelly together with the Hobart Legacy representative were Co-Chairman of the Centenary of Legacy Committee reporting to Legacy Australia Inc. On 12th October 2023 Legatee Kelly together with his wife Legatee Helen Kelly participated in the Torch Relay in the Melbourne Legacy leg of the relay. On Friday 13th October the Torch Relay was scheduled to conclude at the Shrine of Remembrance with the flame to be returned to the eternal flame at the Shrine. Legatee Kelly was selected to be the last Legacy torchbearer, representing Melbourne as the founding club. He lead representatives from Legacy Clubs attending The 2023 National Conference up the Forecourt where the flame passed to the wife of the Governor General, Mrs Linda Hurley. Mrs Hurley was accompanied by The Governor General to return the Centenary of Legacy Torch Relay flame to the eternal flame.

This is an example of Melbourne Legacy promotional material that was issued to inform the public on the work of Legacy and encourage anyone with similar ideals to join as a Legatee. Originally only e-servicemen who had overseas experience were able to become Legatees. In 2001 it was changed to include people that were willing and able to make the person al effort to chive Legacy ideals. Believed to be from 2011 as Legatee Chris Spence is in the photos and he was President from 2010 to 2011.

A colour slide of children at a train station in 1958. In the 1950s for many years Legacy provided Junior Legatees holidays in the country instead of camps. This was a group of children that had gone to Traralgon by train. Was with many other slides taken in the 1950s and 1960s. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. In many cases the original images were not well focussed and the digital image the best available.

Legacy have many programs to send young junior legatees on activities, camps and outings. One photo shows Santa arriving by motorbike The other shows a young girl eating. The venue was the Stapley Pavilion in the Kings Domain/Royal Botanic Garden which was used for many years. They appear to be from the sale film. Exact date unknown, thought to be early 1990s. It was stored with other photos of Junior Legatees from the 1980s and 1990s.

A newspaper article with a photo of veteran Jack Geoghegan holding the violin that is part of Melbourne Legacy's collection (see 00080) at The Shrine. Mr Geoghegan was a Prisoner of War in Changi prison. He remembered playing in the concerts that the violin was used in. His signature is one of many, that had signed the violin. Background: This violin was played by VX30301 Dvr Roy Arnel, as a member of the Australian Imperial Force Concert Party, in the Changi POW camp, Singapore from 1942-1945. It is claimed that the violin, in its case was thrown over the wall by a Chinese civilian. Roy Arnel, a South African by birth enlisted on 7 June 1940 at Royal Park, Melbourne and served with 2 AASC Company as a driver. He was captured by the Japanese Imperial Army at the fall of Singapore in February 1942.
A record that the violin was of importance to many people during their internment.

A watercolour portrait of an unknown prisoner of war. Presumed to be from Changi Prison as it was stored with sheet music believed to be come with the 'Changi violin' donated by the family of Roy Arnel. It was on display in 2nd floor function room with hand written sheet music until 2024. The reverse of the portrait is text of page 5 from a prisoner of war rule book. It has holes that appear to have made been by a pest.

A newspaper article written by Stan Savige, a first hand account of the evacuation of Gallipoli. At that time Stan Savige was a second lieutenant and was one of the last three officers to leave the Lone Pine sector on the morning of the 20 December 1915. It was the second part of his account that was published. Both parts have been downloaded from Trove and added as Word document.

Photos from the 2004 Melbourne Legacy Christmas party for junior legatees. It looks like a mother and her daughter. There was a Santa and a pinata for the young children. It appears to be run by the Melbourne Legacy Leadership Group. The Leadership Group was formed by junior legatees who had become adults. They ran functions for junior legatees in a spirit of service that emulated the work of Legatees. There are more photos of the event, a note with the photos say it was 'JL 2004 Christmas Party'.
