Historical information

The photograph was submitted to the Indigo Shire Photo Competition by Kathy Adamo in the 1980s. The photo depicts two old gas lamps outside the Court House in Beechworth.

The Court House was built in 1856 after Beechworth became known as the legal headquarters in northeast Victoria. The Court House has held a number of trials over the years including many high-profile cases such as the Ned Kelly Trials.
