The letters of Caroline Ethel Cooper who was born in Adelaide but was living in Germany when World War I broke out. She chose to remain and wrote weekly letters to her sister (many of which had to be kept hidden for years), which provide a perceptive and compassionate account of life in Germany during the conflict.
