This gong was used by staff to call guests to meals at Kalimna Guesthouse.
A gong used at Kalimna Guest House to notify guests that a meal was ready . The four metal striking plates sit on a wooden base with four round metal cylinders inserted. Thin nylon rope separates the metal plates from the wood. There are two fittings to allow the gong to be held on the wall.

Victorian Railways printed a series of brochures publicizing holiday destinations.
A folded paper souvenir pamphlet. The cover is a colored picture of Lorne from Scotsman’s Hill with two bathing suited young women in the foreground, and a blurb extolling the virtues of Lorne. On the back is a red, yellow and blue map of Lorne and district. Inside are eight black and white photographs of Lorne attractions,; the Main Street, tennis courts, Erskine River, walking tracks and the George River with the phrase ,” The resort that embraces everything for the perfect holiday.”

Black and white printed map on cream paper. The map shows allotments from the Erskine River to the Grand Pacific with an inset of allotments between Smith and Otway Streets. Allotments have the owners names.. The sea baths, Cobb and Co stables , Mountjoys Hotel, the Church of England, the telegraph line to Geelong and the jetty are also marked.

In 1888 a company was formed to acquire and subdivide the land of the Mountjoy Brothers. The land totaled 197 acres and included Erskine House. The land colored red was that of the Mountjoys. The subdivision map was printed in 1889

A folded paper tourist brochure about Lorne The front cover is a coloured painting of Lorne from above the Erskine River towards the main beach. , on the back is a black and white sketch tourist map of the roads, tracks and beauty spots. Inside the first fold are 6 black and white photographs, Cumberland River, Mt St George, Phantom Falls, Cumberland Cliffs, Teddy’s Lookout, leafy walk towards the pier. Inside contains written descriptions of the highlights of Lorne and six black and white photographs, four general views of Lorne, Lover’s Walk, Erskine Falls .

This was the carrying case for the Cirkut Panoramic camera and tripod used by William Anderson who worked in Lorne in the late 1890’s to 1945

This camera was designed by William Johnston in 1904. Production began in 1905. There were many versions, the number indicated the length of film which corresponds to the width of the panorama. Originally designed for photography of large groups of people. Later it was used for landscapes. This camera was used by the local Lorne photographer William Anderson who took photographs of visitors and local scenes. William purchased Norman Brown’s photographic business in December 1899 and worked in Lorne until his death in 1948
It is a large format rotating panoramic camera. A concertinaed fine leather tube with the adjustable lens is contained in a black wooden leatherette covered rectangular box. On the top is a metal winding handle, a series of weights and a carrying handle. The lens is a Gundlach - Manhattan rapid recto graph. The camera rotates on a geared tripod through 360 degrees with the film driven past the exposure slot by a clock work motor.

In World War 2 residents of Victoria were concerned about enemy attack so a series of Spotters Huts were established along the coast. In Lorne the Spotters Hut was at Queenspark in the old recreation building. Many locals volunteered their time. The plaque was made by the Lorne Historical Society to honour these people who volunteered to join the Air Observers Corp.
A rectangular thin Metal sheet , with black printing. This plaque was made in 1997 as a project of the Lorne Historical Society to pay tribute to the Spotters who worked in the spotters cabin at Queens Park Lorne during the Second World War. It listed all the names of the know Spotters, Win Allen, Nita Armistead, George Armitage, Olga Armitage, Grace Brown, George Crabbe, Monty Craig’s, Margaret Cunningham, Marj Gaylord, Marj Grant, Annie Stirling, Margie Fairbairn, Sheila McIntyre, Wilhemena Morris, Murray Morton, Nick Murnane, Eva Norton, Miss Pethabridge, Eileen Quick, Chas Read, Rev Ken Robert’s, Jack Stirling, Fred Harlock, Nellie Harlock, Cleve Herbert, Joyce Herbert, Hubert Howell, Bert Hughes, Helen Hughes, Enid Jarrett, Alice Kendrick, Marion Kendrick, Rowley Valentine, Mrs G Schram, Don Stewart , Hector Stribling, Cyril Barcoe, Rev Wilson, Kevin Dare, Cliff Green, Shirley Heathcote, Murray Milne. The plaque was placed on the Spotters Hut in 1997 but removed when the hut was remodeled

The Moggs Creek Moving Clickers Society wee responsible for perpetuating the hoax that Sir Samuel Moggs discovered Aireys Inlet before the arrival of the First Fleet. In 1959 they erected a statue to Sir Samual Moggs and also made this whisky bottle.
Brown glass whisky bottle sealed with cork and red wax. The black and white printed label identifies it as Moggs Lighthouse , Very Old Matured Whisky dated 1763. Distilled by United Moggs Distillery Unlimited, Aireys Inlet Australia.

The Great Ocean Road was built by World War 1 returned servicemen. Tolls were collected as sections of the road were completed. The first toll house was at Grassy Creek. It operated from 1922 to 1932 when it was moved to The Springs at Cathedral Rock about 5 km east of Lorne. The thunderbox is believed to have been used here at sometime between 1932 and 1936
This is a rare archeological find. Items n this location are often damaged by the action of the sea and salt air. It is intimately associated with the early years of the development of the Great Ocean Road and the daily life of the workers. It is a typical example of the type of toilet used at the time.
This reclaimed timber thunder box is enclosed on three sides. There is a circular hole on the top with a wooden handled lid attached by a chain. Inside is a steel can.
