Historical information

The name ILCHINKINJA was given to the Arunta Tribe messenger and was to summon young men for initiation.

The name is derived from the Arunta words " ILACH " (a hand) and IKINJA ( to raise ). Best expressed by the phrase " The Beckoning Hand ".
