Schutt & Barrie Pty. Ltd. commenced operations in 1913 [Schutt]at Spotswood, but two years later a transfer was made to the present site at the corner of Geelong and Williamstown Road Footscray. The output for years past has been 100 tons of chaff a day- the largest of any mill of its kind in Australia. The firm’s “Green String” is widely known.
