Artists statement
Aubrey Comben is a Filmmaker & Photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Graduate of Photography at RMIT and Masters of Film & Television, VCA. Passionate in documentary storytelling, through still and moving imagery. Aubrey completed his undergraduate degree in Photography at RMIT University, Melbourne. Primarily focusing on documentary photography, Aubrey has exhibited his work both nationally and Internationally. Wanting to expand on his expertise in the documentary field, Aubrey gained admission to Victorian College of Arts, Masters of Film & Television(Documentary) program. During his time a VCA, Aubrey has crewed on numerous films, predominantly as a DOP. His own films have seen success with his first, A Pier into The World, receiving best first semester documentary and his second, Give a Dog a Bone screening at the Setting Sun Film Festival. Aubrey's most recent film, Restoration Island, screened at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, where it received a nomination for Best Short Documentary.
Aubrey currently works for Deakin University, where he is helping produce 360 degree films for a new immersive teaching space, which is being developed at the Geelong Waurn Ponds campus.
