Historical information

Shows a view looking south from the Town Hall in Swanston Street at Collins Street with a W class No 328, Note the shine in paint work. Many pedestrians, motor cars and passengers boarding or alighting from the tram. In the background is a building advertising "Table Talk" magazine and "Lux" bath flakes. The cable tram signal on the left hand side of the photos by a hop awning. Photo taken just after the 1926 conversion of Swanston Street from cable tram to electric trams. A Collins Street cable tram is visible on left of the photo. The Nicholas Building further down Swanston St is still under construction.
