John Cole was made a Life Member of Heidelberg Golf Club in the mid 1990s. He was HGC Club Champion 11 times between 1972-1991; Junior Champion 3 times 1961-1964; Foursomes Champion 8 times between 1974-1995; Mixed Foursomes Champion 1985; Heidelberg Amateur winner 1979, 1982, 1986; Australasian Fours Champion 1974 and Victorian Amateur Champion runner up 1986.
