Coin - Copper coins, British Mint, 1887

Historical information

The three 1887 coins represent the coins in use at the start of the horse tram operations in Ballarat and would have been used to pay for tickets. The 1911 coin was minted one year after Commonwealth Government started to mint Australian coins.

Significance

Demonstrates the coins used at the time of horse tram and electric tram operations.
