The photograph shows Ballarat tram No. 14 at the Sebastopol terminus, late 1960s or early 1970s. The tram has a destination of Lydiard St North and a "Pay as you Enter" sign by the open door. In the background are the Houses built by the Housing Commission. Photographer unknown. Two copies held.

Photograph shows Ballarat bogie tram No. 15 at the City terminus (Sturt and Lydiard Sts), c1948. Has a destination of Mt Pleasant with a crewman leaning on the front of the tram. In the background is the Town Hall. The tram was originally Hawthorn Tramways Trust No. 26, then MMTB 132 and sold to the SEC in 1945 becoming tram 15. It was later renumbered to No. 36 during 1953. Photographer unknown. Two copies held.

Relaying stringer constructed track in Mercer St., just west of the Gheringhap St. intersection opposite Johnstone Park, looking east towards Malop Street. The southern track has subsided and the original concrete stringers dug out, with them lying beside the track. According to the local papers, wider stringers are to be used. August 1914.

They are standing in front of a Duncan & Fraser tramcar that, perversely, was modified for 'one man' operation about ten years previously. On the tram saloon window behind them, people are being encouraged to lend to the war effort through War Savings Certificates. Note the four button coats.

Melbourne Electric Supply Company tramway Conductors at the depot in Geelong with one of the summer cars, 11 or 12, behind. Three Inspectors are in the centre of front row. At the far left is an upturned can of Shell benzine that fueled the company's three buses which ran from 1912 until 1923. The date of the photograph is between 1916 and 1923 as the Inspector on the right was a Motorman in a photograph taken in 1916.

Private bus parked outside the former lavishly signed State Savings Bank in Moorabool St on the SE corner with Corio St. The bus provided a direct route to West Geelong (Church St and possibly to the stockyards west of Pakington St, via Clarence and Elizabeth Sts. The tram route via Aberdeen St would have taken considerably longer. 1920s.

Contains entries for monthly records of Units generated and consumed in the Ballarat SECV district from July 1956. For each month to July 1960, records power generated, load factors, maximum demands, traction power, public lighting, domestic, industrial, and commercial, and total sales and for auxiliary equipment at the power stations. From August 1960 to Dec. 1962 duplicated sheets titled "Energy Statistics" that do not give data for sales. See item 9542 for data from Nov. 1949 to June 1956. Ballarat A Power Station not recorded generating during Dec. 1956 then not every month during 1957. Some use during the winter of 1958. Last recorded used was during June 1959.
Demonstrates record keeping of the units generated and sent out (sold) of the two Ballarat Power stations.
Printed as an Account book - approx 136 ruled pages + heavy card cover, blue tape binding on the outside, five sections, bound, with additional red and blue ink columns with many loose duplicated foolscap sheets.

First company motor lorry with "ELECTRIC SUPPLY" painted on the side (but with the appearance of a horse drawn buggy). Location is outside the main entrance of the Melbourne Electric Supply Co Ltd, as displayed to the right of the door. The sign on the left may be ELECTRICITY SUPPLY/TRAMWAYS DEPARTMENT. Location of the entrance is in Yarra St, immediately south of the Corio Tce. intersection, and better shown in plate 9201. Motor registration is 4590, probably 1910. Date of the photo is pre-1920 when the power supply was DC, shown exiting the building at the top of the photo.

Later versions of lorries Nos 1 & 2 in the same location. Lorry 2 carries the same registration number, 6764, as the company's bus No. 2, dismantled in 1922. The date of the photograph is likely to be soon after that: mid 1920s.

Motor roller at the corner of Corio Tce. and Yarra St.,, Geelong. Emblazoned in its side is "Pioneer" Patent Motor Roller, made by Barford and Perkins Ltd, Peterborough, England. Date is likely to be 1920, with reconstruction of the power house taking place in the background.

Printed as a specific accounting Journal by the SECV for use in its offices to record the use of the Franking Machine or Postage Machine. The machine would be preloaded with a value at the post office after a cheque for 25 pounds was presented and then used to send out accounts, and letters from the mail room. Used when all power invoices were mailed to customers. Also records the use of stamps. Has the initials of the person who would audit or check the monthly entries. Used in the days when stamps were considered a valuable commodity and to stop pilfering. See item 5639 for a franked envelope sent from the SECV's Ballarat office to Wal Jack.
Demonstrates record keeping of a franking machine record used in the SECV Ballarat office during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
Printed as an accounting journal with heavy card covers, approx 50 pages, ruled in red and blue ink, completed in black ink. The journal is titled "Tranking Machine Record" in a gold block. Has marbled endpapers, sewn sections, and fawn colour cotton sheet cover with leather edge binding and corners with a decorative finish.
Contains entries for each reloading of the franking machine - approx once a month depending on use.

Contains entries for the monthly records of Units generated and consumed in the Ballarat SECV district from Nov. 1949 to June 1956. For each month records power generated, load factors, maximum demands, traction power, public lighting, domestic, industrial, and commercial, and total sales excluding that power used by the SECV themselves in offices, workshops, stores, and for auxiliary equipment at the power stations. First entry for Ballarat B Power Station Sept, 1953. See item 9543 for the July 1956 to Dec. 1962.

Wages record book for each ESCo employee from 2/7/1929 to 30/6/1933 on a fortnightly basis. For the first-year employees are given as a list, with the following years broken down into Lighting Department, Traffic Department, and Depot. Gives the surname and the person's initials and the amounts earned, deductions, and Workers' Compensation amounts. Has summary sheets at the end of each financial year. See item 3400 for 1919 to 1924.
Demonstrates record keeping of wages, income tax and has a close association with those individuals who worked for ESCo and the organisation itself.
Printed as a Minute book - 184 ruled pages + heavy card cover, five sections, bound, with additional red ink columns.
Contains entry for pay fortnights against each employee and summed at the end of the year.
