Significance

Demonstrates an important part of Ballarat's tramway operations during the Second World War when black out conditions applied and headlights had to be masked. The item is a replica made at the time for an exhibition.

Physical description

Replica headlight mask used in BTM's Australia Remembers Exhibition 1995, made to dimensions in SECV drawing BA-T9-8387, made from galvanised sheet metal, cut and folded. Painted on external surfaces, gloss black - 7 Velcro dots on rear for mounting on display boards - used in Photo of No. 27 Oct. 1995.
