Significance

Yields information the operation of a Ballarat bogie tram in Melbourne following the close of the tramway system in 1971 and gives a direct comparison with a later model Melbourne tram.

Series of two Black and White newspaper photographs of the operation of Ballarat 36 in Melbourne on 22/9/1971.



3887.1 - 36 and W2 542 in bound on Princes Bridge with a number of men in hats waiting at the tram stop. Has "Tourism Week Go See Ballarat" signs on the tramcar and Jex Soap pads on No. 542. No. 36 has the destination of Sebastopol.



387.2 - a proof sheet of 12 photographs, 35mm negatives, of No. 36 in St Kilda Road/Swanston St that a photos were selected from.
