Historical information

The photograph shows the northeast corner of Sturt and Lydiard Streets, the post office, tram track and one tram partially obscured. Has many people in the view and some horse-drawn vehicles. Titled "Lydiard Street and Post Office Ballarat, Victoria". On the rear of the card in light blue ink, divided back, with spaces for messages, addresses and stamps. Produced by "WTP", printed in Germany and has the number "124187" in the bottom right-hand corner. See item 9008 for an illustration.

Significance

Yields information about the post office corner at the time of the opening of the tramway and demonstrates colour post card printing techniques.
