Copied by Keith Kings from The Bendigonian 17/9/1901. Photo caption notes on rear note the cylinder on the steam tram, one trailer is a bogie trailer ex battery tram and the other a four wheel trailer. Keith Kings in the book "Bendigo Tramways" - 1972 - notes it as a spark arrester.
