In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries there were strong links between the Australian and African colonies forming the British Empire. The photograph is one of two representing scenes and people from the countries in the region of the Zambezi River: Angola, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique.
