The Marshall Manufacturing Company was established in Port Melbourne in 1888. It employed some 300 workers. By 1900 it was the largest shoe & boot manufacturer in Australia producing 12,000 pieces of footwear weekly. A fire in1901 gutted the building and the company moved to Richmond.

The Swallow and Ariell's, Port Melbourne factory was set up by Thomas SWALLOW in 1854 and produced cakes, biscuits and puddings until it closed in the late 1980's.
Large yellow painted Swallow & Ariell biscuit tin with flowers & leaves in a semi circle on the front.
This tin is not sold with the contents thereof but remains the property of Swallow & Ariell Port Melbourne.

The public housing units were demolished in 2023.
Oblong brass plaque commemorating the opening of the Sandridge Estate by The Honourable Ian Cathie ,M.P. The Sandridge Estate was known locally as Barak Beacon.
The units were erected by Ministry of Housing in collaboration with the Council of the City of Port Melbourne.

Document - Memories growing up in Port Melbourne, Stan Littlepage, c.1999
The original letter was dictated to and typed up by Stan PAGE's daughter in which he describes growing up in Port Melbourne in the 1920's. Although he was a good reader, Stan found it hard to write as he had left school aged 12. The information was retyped & stored with the original document.
