Historical information

This dress was made for Frieda Ellen Hambrook, by a friend who lived at 'Overton' in Kew. Frieda, a teacher, wore the dress to a ball which took place, coincidentally, on 3 November 1939. The dress was inherited by Frieda's daughter, Kew Historical Society member, Margaret Robinson, and donated to the Society in 2023.
