A heavy cardboard burgandy coloured cover with gold information on the front. At the top of the manual reads Ordnance Proof Manual with an insignia under this. The rest of the information in under the insignia. The manual cover has a metal hinge front and back. The are three metal screws both on the front and back of the manual.
