Flag - Viet Cong flag

Historical information

The flag is of the National Liberation Front or Viet Cong. It was adopted in 1960 and was a variation of the North Vietnamese flag. In 1975, it became the flag of the provisional government of the Republic of South Vietnam.

Physical description

Wooden framed flag: top half is red, bottom half is blue with a yellow 5-pointed star in the centre.

Viet Cong flag taken in battle 18 May 1970. Kindly on loan from Andy Perry (SS US) Royal Australian Navy.
