Helmet worn by the Quan Cahn, South Vietnamese military police, during the war in Vietnam. This item was collected because it contributes to an understanding of those involved in the war in Vietnam (1962–1972) other than Australian servicemen.
This helmet has the name Whitfield on the inside strap and the number 29959. Sapper William Alfred Whitfield (29959) was with the Royal Australian Engineers and served in Vietnam with the 1st Field Squadron from may 1966 to February 1967.
Physical description
Black helmet with chin strap. Painted at centre front in large white letters is QC (Quan Canh). Three stripes of equal width (red, white, red) circle the helmet from either side of the letters. es. . Inside there are the numbers, 29959 and the name Whitfield on the inside strap.
