Heavily pitted American helmet collected by Craftsman Francis William Penfold (3790124) who was a National Serviceman and was with the Royal Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and served with 102 Field Workshop from February 1968 to August 1968 Vietnam 1968.
US M1 Helmet c1967. This Vietnam war era US M1 helmet was found in a village in 1999, near what was know as Phoenix Airfield, at Dak To, near Kon Tum, in the Central Highlands.
The area in which the helmet was found was the scene for heavy engagements between US, South Vietnamese Army )ARVN) and North Vietnamese Army (NVA) units in late 1967.
Physical description
Olive green coloured metal US helmet. there are several holes in the helmet as well as rust.
