Historical information

Item worn by Corporal Fred Barber, Air Defence Guard (ADG) royal Australian Air Force, who served at Base Squadron Ubon 1967-8 and with No.1 Operational Support Unit 1971-2. Air Defence Guards were responsible for protecting RAAF assets. During the war in Vietnam, many also served as door gunners on UH-1 Iroquois helicopters with RAAF no. 9 Squadron.

Physical description

Khaki mesh and cloth pilot's vest with five pockets on front, fastened with domes - various sizes. Two pockets on front are fastened with zips. Vest is fastened with zipper down front, three pockets fastened with domes at side of back, and one large pocket on back has a velcro fastener

Vest - Survival mesh net. Size medium - Rest of label too faint to read. "Barber" written in black texta
