Flag - Viet Cong flag

Historical information

The flag is of the National Liberation Front or Viet Cong. It was adopted in 1960 and was a variation of the North Vietnamese flag. In 1975, it became the flag of the provisional government of the Republic of South Vietnam.
It seems that the VC seamstress confused the year for 1966, as a decision to locate the new Australian base was not made until early that year.

Physical description
