Newspaper cutting from an unknown paper and date titled "Tram gets speed cut" regarding modifications to tram 980 to cut its speed. Quotes Mr. Kirby MMTB chairman and Tramway Union Secretary Mr. S. Edwards. Work being done at Preston Workshops.
This dates the cutting to early 1970's.
