Physical description

Black and white photograph of the construction of track and paving at St Kilda Junction during the conversion of the cable trams system to electric trams. Shows the temporary trackwork that was built to facilitate this during early 1926. Has two W class trams at the intersection with many motor vehicles. Shows many wooden blocks being laid.



In the background is the Powell's Conner Hotel and the Junction Hotel. There is a sign on the Corner Hotel advertising the Palais theatre and its pictures.
