Historical information

Photograph of W2 270 turning from Riversdale Road into Wallen Road at Power St passing the entry steps or stairway to the Hawthorn Tram depot. Tram showing Route 74, the Burwood route at the time that terminated at Batman Ave. The photo was taken on a Friday and the depot clothing store would have been "open for business". Photo dated 16.3.1962 by Keith Caldwell. The stairway was removed when the intersection was reconstructed.
In the background, tucked in behind the depot building is a tramway waiting shelter.

Significance

Yields information about the principal entrance to Hawthorn Tram depot prior the reconstruction of Power St and Wallen Road which removed the stairway.
