Photograph - View of Hustler's mine

Historical information

Named after Thomas Hustler who purchased the lease in 1854. It was an opencut mine at this stage and Hustler patented a quartz crushing machine. HE later sold the mine to the Hustlers Reef Mining and drainage Co. and by 1865 the Great Extended Hustler's was operating 31 levels at a depth of 1053meters. The mine ceased operation in 1921.
