Historical information
Long Gully has a long-standing cricket tradition, with the local team winning several Bendigo District Cricket Association (BDCA) Division 1 premierships in the late 1890s and early 1900s (specifically 1896/97, 1897/98, 1898/99, 1900/01, and 1901/02). The trophy commemorates the 1932–33 season for the Wilson Street Methodist team, which competed in the B.I.C.A.L. (likely the Bendigo Industrial, Commercial and Lodges) cricket competition.
