Historical information

This extensive weatherboard store was built in 1893 at a cost of one thousand pounds, architect was H French, builder McKnockiter Bros and D Collins the plasterer. William Barke managed the general store, bakery and hardware, brother John Barke managed the clothing and fancy goods department. Building was demolished and replaced by Centrepoint Arcade in 1985-1986
