The Royal Mail Hotel is in the background. Note the departure clock on the tram stop pole - see second image - appears to be set for a 20 min service at 2mins etc past the hour. Commencement of construction of the East tramline along Ryrie Street. Photographer is a few hundred metres east of the Moorabo9ol St. intersection facing east. The Geelong Theatre is on the right, opened in 1913 and facade preserved. 1922.

Relaying tram tracks at the eastern end of Aphrasia St., Newtown, looking east. The location is immediately west of the Pleasant St. intersection, soon after Aphrasia St. was extended from Pleasant St. to Pakington St. so that the three sharp curves for trams into Retreat Road, Pleasant St. and then Aphrasia St. were reduced to one, from Pakington into Aphrasia St. May 1914. Note that sleepers are being used 8in the construction. All the original tracks were laid as a "stringer" construction, as seen in items 9271 and 9214, with tie bars and continuous concrete about 50cm wide under each rail. The overhead is being worked on in two ways; safely with the horse drawn tower wagon, or less so by ladder.

The Photograph shows Ballarat tram No. 14 with the destination of Lydiard St North most likely in Albert St Sebastopol during the 1930s or 1940s. The tram was in the livery shown from August 1936 until Dec. 1950. A motor car is travelling on the adjacent side of the open door, which indicates possibly at the north end of Albert St, just before the tram turned into Skipton St. On the right side is a building advertising Robur Tea.

Set of two photographs of Ballarat No. 13 in the storage shed at the Lake Goldsmith property. On closure of the Ballarat tramways, this car was donated to the Lake Goldsmith Steam Preservation Society and returned to Ballarat in 1983 on loan to the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Re-entered service in May 1988 after repairs. Photographer unknown.

Photograph shows Ballarat bogie tram No. 15 at the City terminus (Sturt and Lydiard Sts), c1948. Has a destination of Mt Pleasant with a crewman leaning on the front of the tram. In the background is the Town Hall. The tram was originally Hawthorn Tramways Trust No. 26, then MMTB 132 and sold to the SEC in 1945 becoming tram 15. It was later renumbered to No. 36 during 1953. Relaying stringer constructed track in Mercer St., just west of the Gheringhap St. intersection opposite Johnstone Park, looking east towards Malop Street. The southern track has subsided and the original concrete stringers dug out, with them lying beside the track. According to the local papers, wider stringers are to be used. August 1914.
