In 1857 at became legal for all male British subject over the age of 21 to vote for the Legislative Assembly. There was no property qualifications for voters which was a demand from the Eureka Stockade. Property qualifications for voters in the Upper house remained in force until 1950.

Diggers & mining. The gold era. The next year, voting by ballot was introduced, and in 1857 manhood suffrage was adopted for the Legislative Assembly. Markings 38 994.031 GOL:5. Used as a teaching aid.
