Historical information
Bendigo Volunteer Rifles were formed in 1857/58 and the Bendigo Cavalry in 1861. Each man supplied his own outfit with the cavalry carrying sabres rather than guns. In 1867 the first brick orderly room was built. The Bendigo group was the first in Victoria to obtain a field gun .
