Diggers & Mining. Diggers and Miners. Here is a gold escort leaving the Bank of Victoria for Melbourne. Next to the Mechanics' Institute and Free Library. Picture shows 2 mounted escorts alongside a small wagon being hauled by 4 horses. There are approximately 30 members of the public watching on. The Mechanics Institute is weatherboard and the Bank of Victoria appears to be stone. Markings: 55 994.5 WAL. Used as a teaching aid.
