Bendigo Advertiser ''The way we were'' from 2000. Shamrock Hotel: in May 1855 this room was lighted with gas - the first record of the introduction of this illuminant. The Shamrock Hotel in 1861 hosted the sole survivor of the ill-fated Burke and Wills expedition, John King, on his return to Melbourne after his rescue. The clip is in a folder.
